Title: What Would Archimedes Do?
Speaker: Daniel Finkel
Abstract:
Since ancient times mathematics has developed such powerful tools that it's
easy to forget the elegant ideas of great thinkers from the past. In this
talk we will revisit some of their simplest and most profound arguments,
which predate calculus by thousands of years... but also anticipate it, and
suggest proofs for more modern extensions. Also featured is Lyndon
LaRouche's favorite proof of the Pythagorean Theorem.
