By now we all know that the UWAA's Career Connections database is a
useful, free tool that your students can use to build their networks and
get their careers started off on the right track. The trick is getting
them to take advantage of it. To help make the database more interesting
and accessible to the average student, we enlisted the help of a talented
UW student, Faraz Zarghami, and his friend, David Nussbaum. We couldn't be
happier with the results: two hilarious videos about Career Connections
that are sure to make you--and your students--chuckle. Check them out at
http://uwalum.com/students/ (click the "Student Videos" link at the top of
the page). Please share the link with your students if you like the
videos!
The UWAA offers scholarships. The Legacy Scholarship is available to
undergraduate juniors and seniors, including transfer students, but not
current degree holders, who are enrolled as full-time students in Fall
2006. Students must have a parent or grandparent who holds a degree from
the University of Washington and is a current member of the Alumni
Association. Three recipients will be selected on the basis of financial
need, scholastic achievements, leadership activities and community
service. The application deadline is April 30, 2006. Attached is the
application. It can also be found at
http://www.washington.edu/alumni/students/scholarships.html along with
information about other UWAA scholarships.
