Join the 2006-2007 Peer Adviser Team!

The office of First Year Programs is seeking talented UW students for the 2006-2007 Peer Adviser staff! Students from all class standings, majors, and departments are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have a genuine interest in helping other students and their families through their transition to the UW. Applicants should have strong organization skills, be willing to share their UW experiences with new students, and a desire to get involved with and give back to the University.

Peer Advisers will facilitate workshops on topics such as UW academics and transitional needs, work closely with incoming students during their class registration process, and facilitate small group discussions on varying University topics. PAs also develop transferable public speaking and leadership skills as you interact with many people from diverse backgrounds.

Training for Peer Advisers takes place during Spring Quarter; if selected, PAs will receive 2 credits for Gen St 347. Peer Advisers work an average of 35 hours per week for the Summer Advising and Orientation sessions and variable hours as class schedules permit for Quarter Orientations the following school year.
