OIE Employment Opportunity: Student Assistant

The Office of International Education (OIE) is currently recruiting a few
internationally-inclined UW students to join its dynamic team of student
assistants. OIE student assistants help with a variety of office projects
and tasks related to study abroad and international student mobility. If

OIE Student Assistant job description:
The OIE student assistant will be primarily responsible for assisting one
of the OIE staff members with matters specifically related to Concurrent
Enrollment, Credit Reporting, Study Abroad/International Student Advising,
IT Coordination and/or Fiscal Administration. In addition to this, the
student assistant will help other OIE staff members with the daily
operations of the office. Specific activities include:
* Help staff the OIE reference library. Greet incoming visitors, answer
general questions and provide peer advising for potential study abroad
participants in the reference library.
* Act as an advocate for the OIE office. Assist in the coordination of
program orientation meetings, create/update study abroad promotional
materials and market study abroad opportunities to the student body.
* Provide general data entry, filing and computer support. The student
should be comfortable using Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft
Access. Knowledge of HTML and web page maintenance is desirable but not
necessary.
* Aid other OIE staff members with technical/clerical support. Assist
with special events, such as the UW Study Abroad Fair, the IPE Office Photo
Contest, FIG/TRIG Presentations, etc.
* Assist specific OIE staff member with tasks pertaining to his/her area
of expertise.
* Complete other duties as assigned.
One position will start in mid-February 2006. One or more positions will
also become available in the late spring/early summer. All student
assistant assignments will require a 15 hour per week commitment.
The rate of compensation is $8 per hour.
