PLEASE RESPOND ONLY TO morrow at math.washington.edu IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN
VOLUNTEERING. DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS LIST.
**If you have already volunteered, there's no need to respond to this
appeal.**
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a plea for volunteers for Mathday. Mathday will be held on
Monday, March 24, 2008 (during Spring Break). On Mathday over 1200 high
school teachers and students will be on the campus for lectures and
activities related to mathematics. We have many activities and will need
around 75 volunteers. All volunteers will be invited to attend the
luncheon. Volunteers assist in the following ways:
1. Assist with traffic control and troubleshoot at the lectures (you
get to choose which lectures you want to attend)
2. Escort groups of students to and from activities
3. Assist with the paper folding (origami) activity
4. Assist with other activities as needed (games and computer labs,
for example).
If you are willing to volunteer send a message to
morrow at math.washington.edu. You needn't be more specific at this time.
After I get a list of volunteers, I will send around a preference sheet,
asking you what you prefer to do. At this time all I want to know is that
you will be available. The web page
www.math.washington.edu/~morrow/mathday.html
gives up-to-date information on the activities.
You don't need to be a math major to help. No experience is necessary.
Thanks,
Jim Morrow
