[Alpine-info] Alpine and Prompting for UserID and Password.

I'm seriously beginning to think that this is a Sendmail issue now...

Ben, You script works perfectly. I get prompted for a UserID using the setup as you defined. However I'm not getting asked for a password, (Which I assumed is what would happen when you present Sendmail with a different UserID).... Damn I'm loosing my head here....

So One last time I guess.... And if this is a Sendmail issue, please let me know... But here goes...

I telnet to the RHEL System as "FRED" and when I start alpine I'm asked for a UserID, So Wanting to check my own Mail I type in "FRED" and away I go.... Now I exit Alpine and need to Check "Barneys" E-mail... SO once again I start Alpine and it asks me for a UserID.. I type in "Barney" (And never get asked for Barney's Password) and get the error message

"[Unable to open file /var/spool/mail/Barney]"

Bleeding Heck...... I get closer and closer but still no luck....

Now here's the Sendmail info....

[root@******]# sendmail -d0.1Version 8.13.8 Compiled with: DNSMAP HESIOD HES_GETMAILHOST LDAPMAP LOG MAP_REGEX MATCHGECOS MILTER MIME7TO8 MIME8TO7 NAMED_BIND NETINET NETINET6 NETUNIX NEWDB NIS PIPELINING SASLv2 SCANF SOCKETMAP STARTTLS TCPWRAPPERS USERDB USE_LDAP_INIT

And Alpine

GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE ALPINE MESSAGE SYSTEM
Version 1.10(built Mon Mar 24 14:32:09 EDT 2008)

Kernel....
[root@******]# uname -aLinux ****.******.com 2.6.18-53.el5PAE #1 SMP Wed Oct 10 16:48:18 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Just cannot think of anything else. I've been five hours now in front of the Machine with a couple of SSH Sessions open to the server trying all sorts of config changes to Sendmail/Alpine and have hit a brick wall.....

Thanks....

Dave
