I do not understand your reference to "pico" and "entire e-mail". The 
following works to select an entire message, or parts which are off 
screen for deletion (ctrl-K) and undeletion (ctrl-U) ... but only in the 
same message composition.

   - locate beginning of text to be selected
   - ctrl-^ (set mark)
   - ctrl-W ctrl-V (search / to end of file)

   you can then cut (ctrl-K) and recover (ctrl-U) the text but only
   within the same composition session (you can however postpone it)

Otherwise you can E (export) the entire mail to a file, and later import 
it with ctrl-R.
