Not a pane, but you can see a little bit of the text, as you would see the
subject, by using the OPENINGTEXTNQ token in the Index Format variable.
I have my Index Format set to
SHORTIMAPSTATUS FROMORTO(18) SUBJECT(18) OPENINGTEXTNQ
That might not be good enough for most people, since things like
"[Alpine-info]" would dominate the Subject field, so I use some 'rules'
(from one of my patches) to eliminate such information. I also trim some
information from the OPENINGTEXTNQ field (like the reply-leadin), so I get
more of the real message. Again, using two of my patches ('rules' and
'fillpara'). I have set up also some folders where I do not include the
subject token at all, and I have found that I hardly ever need to see it.
I also set up a rule to paint the subject and the openingtextnq token
differently, so I distinguish them in the index screen.
