Same problem here when switching to Alpine. ;-)
I have solved setting this option:

Index Format=STATUS MSGNO SHORTDATEISO FROMORTO(33%) SIZE ...

To have the same look as Pine you need to set:

Index Format=STATUS MSGNO DATE FROMORTO(33%) SIZE SUBJKEY(67%
