Makes sense. Suse distributes my patches as part of the Pine package. I
believe they will also do this as part of Alpine 1.XY and SuSe 11.0.

The -supported option does not refer to patches, but to drivers and access
methods. I do leave a mark in one of my patches (one that integrates all
patches in my page), so that a user can recognize that is using a patched
version of Alpine, but individual patches (like the one I mentioned to
you) do not leave such mark. One can know that is running a fully patched
version of Alpine from the command line by running "alpine -version", or
by pressing "M R" and see the notice in the release notes.
