so it's auto-zooming once one has already auto-zoomed, thus making
the message disappear, right?

Maybe auto-zoom should only happen if one isn't already zoomed in. That
would seem to solve the originator's issue (which I would qualify as
a "usability" bug.. I understand why it's working the way it is, it sounds
like it is working the way it was designed, but it can also be
confusing as heck, as the originator bothered to sign up to the list to
report it.. thanks, btw.)
