[Alpine-info] Alpine can't transparently reconnect to server on send? (??)

Hi,

I have a problem with Alpine and a server that appears to behind a
dumb, stateful firewall that appears to time out connections a bit
too aggresively.

Basically, if I reply to an email, alpine goes into the compose
editor. If it happens to take me a long time to write my reply
O(15miuns), often when I try to send (^x) alpine then complains
there's no response from server and gives me the 'continue or break
connection?' line.

At this stage, there's no way out except to paste the text to an
editor (or save the mail via alternate-editor) and drop the email: no
matter how long i let alpine try reach the server, it won't recover;
if i tell it to stop doing that, I can't postpone the message (Fcc on
same IMAP server not reachable). I have to cancel, go back and
re-open my inbox (it goes red/closed) and re-reply - reading/pasting
back in my saved email text.

The problem (other than moronic firewall administrators), I imagine,
seems to be that Alpine has no way to gracefully reconnect to the
IMAP server - at least at that stage.

Is there any easy fix?

Thanks in advance,
