[Alpine-info] Background Processes

Hey all,

On a system level, how difficult would it be do do pipe processes (which 
involve spawning another process anyway) in some sort of 
returns-immediately subshell?  I don't particularly care about the output 
of the pipe.

I don't *think* I can do this by sticking "&" on the end of the pipe 
command, but if it IS that simple, can someone let me know?
