Close but not quite what I'm looking for. Due to the fact that I don't
always read all posts in a thread they will always show N. The threads
are collapsed by default until I select one and hit enter. The default is
to show thread structure which I hoped meant that a mailbox would open
with the thread tree already shown.

The problem is I don't delete messages.
