Oh. It's the order of matches, like in procmail. Well that can be
tricky, partly because I don't know how to reorder things. Does this mean
that if I start at the top of the roles config page (MSRR select role),
that Alpine starts at the top of that page and works its way down
searching for a match?

Right. That's what I thought. But suppose I have a message in a mail
folder with mbmiller+x at gmail.com appearing in at least one of the the To,
>From or Cc fields. When I reply, I want my From address on the outgoing
reply to be *always* mbmiller+x at gmail.com. I am using these options for
the role with everything else kept at the default:
Nickname = x - whatever
Comment = X messages.\n
Current Folder Type =
Set Choose One
--- --------------------
(*) Any
Partic pattern = mbmiller\+x at gmail.com
Set From = Mike Miller <mbmiller+x at gmail.com>
Reply Use =
Set Choose One
--- --------------------
( ) Never
( ) With confirmation
(*) Without confirmation
Forward Use =
Set Choose One
--- --------------------
( ) Never
(*) With confirmation
( ) Without confirmation
Compose Use =
Set Choose One
--- --------------------
( ) Never
(*) With confirmation
( ) Without confirmation
So what is wrong with what I am doing? Alpine will revert to the default
address when the message was To: mbmiller+x at gmail.com unless I hit Ctrl-T
and explicitly change the From address to mbmiller+x.
Mike
