Need to be running in an UTF-8 locale - command locale to check - see
distro specific documentation to see how to switch.
Locale should look like: xx_YY.UTF-8 or similar
> b) remote system (freebsd 6.x)
No clue how this is handled on FreeBSD but same applies. Possibly needed
> b2) curses
Possibly need to build curses with widechar support/UTF8/iconv support.
> c) screen/termcap
Run screen with utf8 support. See screen documentation for this.
> d) alpine/pine
Setting various display encodings and so on to UTF-8 helps. Other than
that don't think there is anything else necessary.
Hope this helps
