It would appear that on Jan 18, paul killey did say:

Ugg That just rots... In this case I wouldn't expect an pop3 server to
be fully IMAP compliant, and I doubt that alpine does either. But I've
been using alpine and pine to access pop3 servers for a long time now.
and with a line like this in the incoming-folders:

mailbox {mail.comcast.net:110/novalidate-cert/user=username/service=pop3}inbox

It always used to work... As long as I didn't dilly dally around reading
messages directly from the server, as after a while something would
time out from the perceived inactivity and close the pop3 inbox due to
access error... But since I usually let a few filters move messages
to HighPriority, and spam folders, then one more to move whatever was
left to a LowPriority folder it was wonderful until comcast just did
something to their so called pop3 that I'd bet is about as pop3
compliant as the exchange server is imap compliant...

Fortunately it turns out that whatever they did doesn't mess with
fetchmail. Which solves my problem. All I gotta do now is to point
those filters at the local inbox and remove the pop3 boxes from my
incoming-folders list...

So other than adding comcast to the long list of service
providers who have such low regard for actual standards that we
should all stick {rusty} railroad spikes into voodoo dolls in their
likenesses at least twice for every message that lands in our
inboxes, all's right with the world again... ;-)

But humor aside, thank you for fixing my "Subject: goof", I started my
message from a formletter and forgot to update the subject...
naughty me!
