There is a way to do it... I have it setup based on the info from:
http://www.zrox.net/Mail/Pine/other.html#trash
and
http://www.ii.com/internet/messaging/pine/pc/#mvFilter

And I have it setup to expunge when I leave the folder or just do it
manually with X.

I'm using this with alpine 2.00 and I have all the extra patches from:
http://staff.washington.edu/chappa/alpine/
so there might be something from there as well.

But basically have it set it like that.
