Try setting "customized headers", like so:
customized-hdrs=From: "My Name" <me at mydomain.com>
If I understand your query correctly, this will achieve what you
would like without having to touch "roles" at all.
This option is available as "Customized Headers" in the Setup/Config
menu. You may also need "enable-full-header-cmd" in the "feature-list"
in order to use/view this data.
Additionally, you will probably want to ensure that all of your
valid addresses are listed as alternates, as indicated earlier.
My understanding is that "user-id" was added to PC-pine merely as a
workaround for the lack of local meaningful userid info (especially
on Win95 + co), and doesn't actually provide any functionality that
isn't available in some way in Unix (al)pine.
Andrew.
