Use one pinky of each hand and it takes maybe a second. So I'm not really
feeling your pain! ;-)

As Ben Haskell also pointed out, you can make Emacs the default editor:

[X] Enable Alternate Editor Implicitly

I don't do that because I often try to paste from body to header and I was
having problems when that was enabled.
