I have seen no evidence of it that problem ever happening in Alpine's 
local mailbox searching, or in the mailbox searching used by Panda IMAP 
and UW IMAP.  If you have such evidence, I very much want to see it.

For your information, From searching works as follows:

1. The message header is parsed.

2. In the From line, the "personal name", "mailbox", and "domain" are 
extracted as part of the parse.

3. A string is built from the data in step 2, in the form:
 	personal name <mailbox at domain>

4. A case-independent substring search is made of the desired string in 
the string from step 3.

Try doing a From search with the string "k cr".  You should find all the
messages that I've sent.
