[Alpine-info] compatibility question

The change from pine to alpine is rather smooth. Best thing for a power
user is to read the documentation and try any new features of interest.
Transition might be more or less smooth depending on circumstances like:

- if a user had a deeply customised .pinerc, it's likely he won't notice
any change since most of the old pine features will be honored by
alpine. However if the user had NO customization, and the default
behaviour changed (mail index example above) he will notice

- which pine installation was one starting from ? I used originally
the pine binaries included in my linux distro (SuSE), and they weren't
vanilla pine, but pine with some of Eduardo Chappa's patches applied.
So I noticed a different behaviour when I compiled vanilla alpine.
However Chappa's patches are available for alpine too, and once
applied, everything looked OK (and some extra stuff too).
