I definitely don't use your debian/ directory. I have my own that I keep
in Debian's separate version control.
Maybe going forward, your release announcement can mention that
http://packages.debian.org/alpine is how to find the official packages for
current versions of Debian, and http://backports.debian.org/ has packages
for old versions. That will encourage me to upload quickly, and also help
people who are new to the Debian world find the official packages.
I'm a bit groggy, so if the above doesn't make sense, just ask me to
explain myself. (-:
