Oh I don't care that much for myself, but I have just discovered gcalcli
[1] which is an easy way to add gmail appointments from command line.
Once they add the promised ical functionality it will be perfect for use
with *pine.

What I want for now is to be able to accept the senders invitation so
that *his* calendaring app (outlook in most cases, but you can detect
that in the .ics most of the time) will show me as attending.
