Thanks for the reply. I've done it but it was a little disappointing
on the speed side. I realised there would be a delay with sorting but
it is so slow it's barely worth trying. In the past i've flagged
[starred] important messages and then selected unflagged and deleted
manually - that seems the best way all things considered.

unless anyone has any bright ideas!
