My experiences (at least with the composer) are, that you have to dig
sourcecode and change the shortcuts there yourself. Switching from a
composed shortcut to a single character might entail additional hassle,
but for changing a Ctrl-XYZ-shortcut to another one it really is as
straight forward as it sounds:
In Debian you just get the necessary boilerplate packages with
aptitude build-dep alpine
then clone the repository from sourceforge like
git clone
git://re-alpine.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/re-alpine/re-alpine
edit the shortcuts and ./configure && make.
Kind regards,
Malte
