Michael and Al

I've got the hard copy of Publication 557. Hmm well at home anyway.
I'm aware that we could take advantage of another organizations 501(c)(3)
status, however our group would prefer to handle it ourselves. For me it
would be a learning experience. Hmmm once established I think our group
would would be willing to take someone under our wings so to speak. But
first I need some basic information that another group should have readily
available.

Specifically

What wording have others used for the specific items on the federal form 1023
"Application for Recognition of Exemption" so we can use them as a guide.

Part I, 6 Activity codes
I don't seem to be able to match up to what the IRS lists at the back of the
Publication :-(

Part II "Provide a detailed narrative of all activities..."
This would be great and would might also give us ideas as to what other
groups are doing with their group that we might incorporate in ours.

Part II item 2 "What are or will be the organization's sources of finacial
support?
I have:
Grants
Donations
Member fund
Fund raising activities.
any others ?

Part II item 3. "Describe the organizations fund raising program..."
This would be great in that it not only would answer the IRS's question but
give us some additional ideas :-)

Part II item 13 "Does or will the organization attempt to influence
legislation"
I have to say yes because we have already been active on the regulation of
the O & P regulation issue with other groups in Texas and eventually would
like to work on the insurance issues.

If you know of anyone that would be willing to share that information I would
appreciate letting them know we are searching. No sense in Wayne or someone
else trying to formulate the answers when they should already be out there
somewhere eh.

Thanks

Ralph
