Potential hemicorporectomy... "peer" search

Our local (Denver) amputee resource group voicemail had a message late last 
week from a doctor seeking 'peer support' for an individual considering 
hemi-corporectomy (also known as TLA=translumbar amputation) surgery - both 
lower limbs, entire pelvis.  She gave no further info. in the message and has 
not followed up with further info following an initial response to her.  

This procedure is quite rare, I believe, and clearly quite extreme - 
performed in extreme situations of severe pelvic injury/crushing, malignancy, 
etc...

Does anyone on this list know of any individual(s) who have undergone this 
surgery with relatively positive outcome?
