The energy currently utilized on the "stump" word debate could be
replaced with consumer advocacy efforts in procuring improved O&P
coverage from private and government insurers. There is presently very
important national legislation being debated in Congress that if passed
could set a precedent for increased O&P coverage for all American
amputees. The Barr Foundation receives over 100 applications per month
requesting prosthetic funding assistance. There is currently a shortage
of acceptable prosthetic insurance coverage and it's getting worse!
We could all make a difference for everyone by picking up the phone or
writing a short letter to the sponsor, Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FLA)
and your Congressman urging support for the William G. Barr Amputee
Protection Act of 1999: House Resolution #1938.
Unless you are completely satisfied with your current prosthetic
coverage protection, consider making a real difference in receiving the
most advanced prosthetic technology for yourself and others in the
future by supporting this legislation.
The bill can be read at
www.oandp.com/barr
and the contact address and phone# is there. You can make a real
difference in prosthetic rehabilitation. Who else is going to do it for
you?
Speaking of stumps check this site out for the lighter side!
