What's in a name?

Calling the word 'stump' crude betrays a blatant rejection of an inescapable
life situation for amputees and encouraging this is NOT the road to achieving
maximum happiness. Being an amputee is not really a CHOICE for anyone
(including me) but rather the lesser of evils and once it happens is it not
necessary to work for the best possible attitudes toward it?? We must learn
to look upon this as acceptingly as possible....thinking of the word stump as
crude is the wrong way to go. As I said earlier, stump is not even slang
since there is, or was for hundreds of years, no other term for it. GB.
