Have you checked out "platform crutches" they are available in either
forearm or axillary configurations, but because of their design are not as
functional as either type - you use them with your forearms at a 90 degree
angle to your upper arms and support your weight with your arms on the
platforms and do not put any (too much) stress on your hands and wrists!
My son used one with a conventional crutch when he had surgery on his
achilles tendon. (He has hemiplegia and is unable to use his right hand or
arm - I have to advise you that his experiences with his platform crutch
was not as good as we anticipated it would be (:-< He preferred to hop
rather than use the crutches while his leg was immobilized!)
