Nike Advertisment

Letting a minority have influence is good, letting a majority do anything
they want just because there are more fo them is bad, we agree on these
points ...... now, when a country has to obey the orders of a little bunch
of activists then it's not good.

I agree with the person ( I don't remember her name ) who just wrote that
Nike did not put the ad with the responsability of only one person. To reach
the stage to be printed in magazines worldwide it has been read and approved
by not one, not two, not 3 persons but many more.....

There was a French author whose name I don't recall either who would say " I
don't care if people say good or bad about me, as long as they talk about
me".

Oliver Toscani who was Benett'ons photographer for years had understood it
very well. He would display all kind of violent pictures that had nothing to
do with sweaters, only because, each time there was a polemics somewhere in
the world about the ad and Benetton was selling more sweaters.

I understand very well that people might not have enjoyed the ad. I was
disgusted by Benettons Bosniac corpse or his still warm dead from AIDS,
nevertheless it would not have crossed my mind to complain about it. I'ts
their problem not mine. If I don't like what they do, I'm free to boycott
them, just like many French boycott McDonald's these days ...

>I was quite clear. Your conclusion, "This is a good sign for democracy," is
right. In simple terms, letting a minority have influence is good, letting a
majority do anything they want just because there are more of them is bad.
