Hi Esther

your insurance "system" sounds like a beaurocratic nightmare!!

Clearly there are no simple solutions to such a complex problem, but getting
organised and lobbying like mad may have some effect in the end. I
sometimes think that politicians should be forced to use the public health
system when they or their families get sick, and I suspect that there would
be some changes then. But because they are not put in that position, they
neither understand the problems, nor do they really care about them.

I know that Govs do not theoretically spend public money on election
campaigns, but certainly here in Australia Govs DO put on expensive
advertising campaigns to tell us what wonderful things they are doing with
our money! It sure sounds like political advertising to me, although they
probably consider it "public information"! In any event, wherever the
campaign money comes from, it is an obscene amount when people are living in
poverty and in need of decent health care.

regards
Angela
