New Doctor

[Last Leg]

Howdy List,

I'm seeing a new pain management doc today; he's in Manhattan, about 10 
blocks from my office, at the NYU Pain Mgmt. Center.  Hopefully this guy 
will be able to give me the answers (about my RSD) that I want.  the last 
guy I was seeing was in Morristwon, NJ; he seemed to think that Narcotics 
were the answer, at first, then changed his mind and "yanked the rug out 
from underneath me."  It drives me crazy that doctors (even pain mgmt. docs) 
are so affected by the DEA doctrine-- everybody is on a witch hunt, these 
days.  God forbid that anyone with chronic pain get some modicum of relief 
from a "horrible drug" like Oxy-Contin or MS-Contin.  Sigh... it's all so 
depressing.  It's bad enough that public opinion makes people (like me) feel 
like drug addicts for taking pain meds, but it's even worse when doctors and 
pharmacists try telling you what YOUR pain level is.  Hah.  Like they 
actually have a clue... "no, doctor, you DON'T know what my pain level is 
today"

Some of the "NEWS" section has articles that will make you gasp, especially 
the stuff under HMO's.
