CATALOG LIBRARIAN
The NLLIC is seeking a Catalog Librarian to coordinate the development of a
Web-based library catalog. This catalog once developed will be the most
comprehensive database of limb-loss and limb-loss related materials yet
available for the limb loss consumer, their families, health care providers
and researchers in the limb loss and related fields.
Responsibilities include cataloging and classification in all formats,
original and copy cataloging, authority control, database maintenance and
participation in planning and implementing special projects. Assists in the
development of policies and procedures for the department. This position
reports directly to the Project Director of the NLLIC and works closes with
other staff that are involved in the project.
An ALA accredited MLS is required for this position. Experience as a
professional or para-professional in cataloging and in the use of AACR2,
OCLC, MARC formats, automated library systems (Cuadra STAR preferred), MESH
and Library of Congress subject headings, classification schedules, and Web
cataloging is strongly desired. Excellent communication and organizational
skills, interest in professional development, ability to work well with
others, and a strong degree of self -motivation are also desired. Non-profit
or health sciences experience is a plus.
This is a 24-month position. Competitive salary with excellent benefits.
