Hi all
Personally I wouldn't cut off my arm unless I felt that it was unsaveable
and after three days crushed by a big rock I imagine that even the best Med
team could not have saved the limb. Also the toxins that dying flesh produce
could have killed him if theh pressure was released and the poisoned blood
flowed into the body. I remeber a case where a bloke got his legs trapped
under a boulder for 4 days. The rescue team thought that he would die when
they lifted the boulder, so they gave him IV anti biotics and heaps of
adrenaline. The rush of bad blood nearly killed him. He survived but lost
both legs above the knees. He has since done a walk and climb in Tasmania
that takes 10 days for non amps!! Just goes to show that you can't keep a
good person down. His name is Warren McDonald and I belive that he has a web
site under that name.
My thoughts go out to Aron, he truely is a brave man with a strong will

Rodger,
The article I read stated that the position he was in would have made him
impossible to see from the search helicopters, so the chances are they
wouldn't have found him at all. Apparently he was kind of under the rock.

|What really jumps up and smacks me between the eyes is that with my luck
|I'd no sooner have finished lopping off my arm than the rescue party would
|arrive. I know they said they couldn't move the boulder but they could
|have kept him hydrated and nourished until help could be obtained.
