swim legs

does anyone use a swim leg??   I am BKA and I very much want to play in the ocean or pool with my kids but I don't have the $$$$$ for a swim leg and insurance will not pay for it.  How do yall cope without one.  I need some good ideas.  I have tried to make an old prosthesis work but the reason I got rid of them in the first place was thet they didn't fit.   

Any crazy or weird idea will be greatly appreciated.
