poofing

Susan -
Your prosthetist needs to try a different adhesive. I like the "plastic
sock" coverings, because they
are watertight. I've had problems with the glue not sticking - I just
go back to the prosthetist
and he gets creative because he gets tired of my nagging him.
Prosthetists have access
to lots of different adhesives. I can endure a few days of glue-smell,
if the cover will
actually stick.

I listened to the pitch from my prosthetist that many people like to
have the loose end of
the "plastic sock" long, and just pull it up well above the knee to
cover stumpsocks and
everything. I explained that I didn't want that, and that I wanted the
cover cut around the
top of the prosthesis and glued down. There are quite enough layers of
non-breathing
gel material covering my leg already, and I have no wish to add another
layer of heat-
trapping non-breathing material on top! I am quite warm enough already.
