So you think that the CP would give someone a socket knowing that down
the line he is going to have to change out a few times? I need more
information on types of sockets ect. or where to look for the info. Jake,
Jake, Cp's usually figure on an amputee's stump shrinking after using a
socket for a while. The amount of shrinkage varies individually. In
two years I've had five sockets built and managed to use two of them. I
have been using my current socket for about 8 months.
For an overview of many different feet you might try http://www.oandp.com
The last time I went there you could view different manufacturer's
products by clicking on the logo on the left of the page and following
the instructions to find what you wanted.
For an explanation of socket types, your cp may be the best source, but I
found quite a bit of information in the ACA's "First Step" magazine.
Before I chose the type of socket I determined to be suitable,I talked
to 20 or 30 different cp's. Kinda damaging to my phone bill, but I found
several that were willing to discuss the merits of different set-ups.
Of course you need to keep your b.s. sorter highly activated when
talking to someone who is trying to sell you something.
