Hello everyone... and a question for you

My name is Dan Busman and it's 5 pm in Sacramento, California so I'll say a
punch-the-time-clock HELLO to everyone. Here's my short story with a
question at the end. This is directed mainly to any amputees out there who
are riding motorcycles with modifications made to their bikes.
I am a left leg amputee (about 2-3 inches of femur remaining) since age 4
and rode a Honda 175, then a Honda XL-350 during high school and college
days. Then there is a 20+ year "time out" until I've just begun to get back
into riding at age 46. I've always enjoyed dirt riding and while I cannot
race (all those tight left turns!) I tore it up pretty good way back when.
My recent purchase is a Honda XR-600R and here is my question for those of
you on the list who might have suggestions/answers: On my old XL-350 a
metal-worker friend built a custom mechanical linkage that went up 'n over
the crankcase to allow me to shift and brake on the right. It worked
flawlessly for many years since it was built strong and was bolted into two
motor mount points. Now I'm searching for a way to do the same but don't
know of any modification shops in Sacramento or surrounding areas. I've
seen some electric shifters on the internet but at this point don't know if
that can work, and I'd much rather keep the "traditional 1-down 4-up"
shifting with my right foot instead of a button on the handlebar. If anyone
has a resource or worked out something that has been successful for them in
a similar situation I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks! -- Dan
