anyone care to comment on the recent event with the ABC/BOC "merger talks"?

it is my understanding <and i could be wrong>  that the ABC is now accepting 
BOC members for a $75 fee, and a test?
how does this affect the credibility of the ABC members, < those who actually 
spent the money, and took the courses, and hold the degrees>, by allowing  
those less qualified to hold the same titles?
