I tried a couple of different gel liners--all of them broke down in some
way.

The gel liners I use now were also wearing through within one-two months
from rubbing against the socket in spots.  As usual, my prosthetist came up
with a brilliant solution.  He put a seal (I don't know what the material is
--it's clear) around the distal end of the liner.  No holes have developed
in the four months I've had it.
