Thanks for the message, Carl.  Yes, we all need such experiences to keep ourselves in perspective, right?

About the time I went thru my fem-pop, quad cardiac by-pass and two BK's, a friend from our congregation roughly my age, severed his neck in a swimming accident and ended up like Christopher Reeves (not quite so famous) - in wheelchair, respirator, total care, parallyzed from neck down - the whole nine yards,as they say.  When I look at Bob, I realize that all my "medical adventures" were a mere "walk in the park" compared to his.

BTW, that fellow you saw in the CP's shop (DAKA plus arm).  I saw him - or a similar young man - at the ACA conference this month.  Nothing's gonna stop that guy.
