Hello all,
I am just finalizing a trip back east, starting in NY and finishing in
Atlanta. At the moment I have a bit of time in both NY (3-5Feb) and DC
(7-8Feb), if anyone would like to get together for coffee. I will be at a
conference on Land Mine
issues,(http://maic.jmu.edu/conference/partnership2005/) in Alexandria
9-11Feb. I will be talking about humanitarian victims support for people
who have lost some degree of hand function and also some economic
development (with the adaptive clothing) One of the things I am working
toward is having some of my clothing manufactured in post-conflict
countries, preferably by mothers who have been widdowed by conflict. The
garments would then be brought to NA to be sold at regular commercial rates
and much of the funds going back to the country to provide sustaining funds
for new socketless prosthetic fitting clinics and the sewing facility. Much
of this will be done in partnership with non-profits including Global Limb
Assistance Program. Who would like a house robe designed specifically to be
worn while you use a wheelchair, made from fine silk and sewn by a single
mother in Cambodia or Vietnam?
I still have not given up on the idea of a Fashion Show, maybe in 2006.
Does anyone know how to get in touch with Katie Curac (Today Show, NBC)
If anyone would like to get together for coffee, feel free to drop me a
note, off list, or phone.
