[AMP-L] Surgical techniques that fail to anticipate an amputee's functional needs are in part to blame ....

Wow!

This fine example of the high quality clinical info to be posted on
Amp-L serves to reassure me that my mid-thigh AK in 2000 by
Dr. Gregory Zych of University of Miami Dept. of Orthopedics was done
optimally.

No wonder that I'm able to walk several miles in a day, ride the MS150
benifit bike rides (and fast enough to keep with able bodied cyclists)
and be generally a high functioning amp.

Fine prosthetic fitting by Finnieston Clinic and the best training by
Bob Giley didn't hurt either.

Moral of the story: Choose your surgeon, prosthetist and therapist
very carefully. It's the rest of your life at stake here!

It is sad that so few Doctors are well enough educated in these
matters that others don't reach their full potentials.

Thanks for sharing this very interesting report.
