That would be Robert S. Gailey ,Ph.D. P.T from University of Miami School of
Medicine , whom would be the first to support proper amputation surgery
,call it Ertl or anything else( but do it right ! ) as the first and most
important step in achieving total and successful prosthetic rehabilitation. 

Bob is the best at what he does and confirms the crucial role that physical
therapists plays (along and equally with surgeons and prostetists )in
achieving total rehabilitation thru proper limb strengthening,
excersize,achieving balance training skills and muscle conditioning and all
other aspects of gait training protocol.

I would gladly accept the dream team of Ertl(surgeon) ,Finneston,
(prosthetist) and Gailey (PT) any time provided I had the financial
resources! Only one team member, the prosthetist, does not require a license
nor minimum educational standards to practise O&P  in 39 of 50 states.
Fortunatley Florida is one of the 11 states that requires all be licensed by
the state.
