Hi, Rodger:
Well, we're both in the same boat. Diabetes, circulatory problems, etc.,
etc. While you ended up with an AK, I have two BK's Hmmm, even trade???
As the doc said, when the body's not fighting so hard to keep blood flow in
those lower legs, the rest of the body is doing much better.
Oh, I do remember those days (about 5 years ago) when we were doing
everything imaginable to fight off amputation. (I'll spare you all the
details.) In and out of hospitals. Off my feet more than on. I remember
my surgeon saying, "We can either keep playing games, or you can amputate
and get back to living." Doggonnit! He was right. RBK, Oct '00.
Well .... as diabetes has a way of keeping up, I ended up with a LBK, May
'01.
Now I can claim to be the "shortest pastor in the Synod" (area). But, for
the last 4+ years, everythings been stable, and life's been pretty good.
I'm still serving in Interim Ministry, but at age 67, I'm beginning enjoy a
slower part-time pace.
BTW, Rodger, it was good to meet you at the last 2 ACA get-togethers in TN
and TX. Hope to see you in MN next year.
Dick Stevens, DBKA in PA
