Janet:  

Unless you are covered by your spouses medical insurance,you 
will have to use Medicare after a certain length of time.  

They have been pretty good about covering my leg(s) and I had to
re-apply for medical insurance from my company.  It's costing an arm 
and
a leg to have both, but it's the only way I could get prescription and
medical coverage for my wife.  Supposedly BCBS picks up part of what's
left after Medicare's payment, but it has been a hassle to keep them
straightened out.
