Amp-l Friends,
As an interesting side salad to the AP article about regrowth: I have been
an amputee for 26 years (I am 46 now) , and extremely active the whole time.
However about a year ago, I started a regimen of training indoor rock
climbing 4 days a week and outdoors at least twice a month. My residual limb
(left bk) has added a good ¾ of an inch to the length due to bone growth.
Uneven, yes, but not so much like a calcified deposit or spur. No pain or
discomfort. Bone density change? The addition is on the true end of the
tibia creating length. Maybe the story is not so far fetched. Interesting.
