   Some thoughts on socket research

1. Prosthetic science is just recently starting to use evidence based practice.  Evidence based practice is something medicine and nursing have been using for several years. Practice that is directed by research into how people react to certain treatments. Because evidence based practice is new to prosthetic science there are very few studies done that show how amputees tolerate different socket types. 

2. The people who usually do this kind of research  have a Masters or PhD. I have never met a prosthetisi that has their Masters or PhD. I don't even know if there are programs that prepare prosthetists to receive a PhD.
